Duke of Edinburgh's Award

The Duke of Edinburgh Award at Gildredge House provides a balanced programme of activities that develop the whole person. We offer our students the opportunity to gain their Bronze Award (Year 9) and Silver award (Year 10).

In 2022 we had 34 approved Bronze Awards & 21 approved Silver awards .

The Award at the Bronze level comprises 4 sections: Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition. Details of the timescales are shown in the table below.

The Volunteering, Physical and skills sections are undertaken once a week for an hour each. Two of these sections have to be completed over a three-month period and the third section is six months. It is each student's decision as to which section they do for six months.

There is a huge range of ideas for each section. These links will give you ideas of what can be done for the sections, but they are not exhaustive lists.
